One of the biggest struggles in families striving to reconcile strife is the mismatched power dynamic between members. Family therapy helps foster a sense and space for equality and communication.
Each type of therapy is designed to serve specific purposes, and individuals or partners in a relationship may find that one or both modalities are beneficial at different stages of their therapy journey. About Our Therapy Modalities
Expressive Arts Therapy
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
This modality utilizes mindfulness practices to enhance present-moment awareness and reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. By teaching clients to observe their thoughts and feelings without judgment, mindfulness-based therapy helps improve overall mental health and stress resilience.
Solution-Focused Therapy
Focused on building solutions rather than dissecting problems, this therapy sets clear, concise goals and leverages a client’s existing resources and strengths. It is particularly effective for clients seeking quick and practical solutions to specific problems, enabling significant progress in fewer sessions.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
IFS offers a unique approach to psychotherapy by treating multiple sub-personalities within a single individual. It helps clients understand and harmonize their internal family systems, leading to increased self-awareness and emotional balance. This modality is particularly effective in treating complex trauma and improving personal relationships.
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT is effective for treating disorders such as anxiety, depression, and PTSD by focusing on identifying and altering detrimental thought patterns. This approach encourages clients to develop healthier cognitive habits, leading to improved emotional regulation and behavior. Clients often experience significant improvement in their ability to manage daily stress and emotional challenges.
Dialectical-Behavior Therapy (DBT)
DBT is designed to help individuals manage intense emotions and improve interpersonal relationships. It incorporates strategies like mindfulness, distress tolerance, and emotional regulation. This therapy is particularly beneficial for those with borderline personality disorder or who struggle with self-harm behaviors, offering them a structured path toward stability.
Somatic Therapies
Somatic interventions honor the deep connection between the body and the mind. The use of specific frequencies to entrain brain states has been well-studied and established for decades. Applying this modality to assist with regulating mental, emotional, and physical responses during or before another therapeutic modality can be an excellent way to get faster or more substantial results.
EMDR Therapy
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. This therapeutic technique uses bi-lateral stimulation (visual, auditory, or tactile) to reprocess past trauma or other distressing life experiences. It aims to reduce anxiety, integrate information, and instill more adaptive thinking patterns.
Polyvagal
Polyvagal Therapy (PVT) focuses on the autonomic nervous system and the three neural pathways associated with it: ventral vagal, sympathetic, and dorsal vagal pathways. By regulating our nervous system, PVT allows us to better understand, recognize, and manage our body’s response to stress and trauma.
